Flu Season Safety Reminder: Clean Hands, Healthy Team
Flu season is here, and one of the best ways we can protect ourselves and each other is by practicing good hygiene and healthy habits at work and at home. Germs spread easily through shared tools, equipment, door handles, and breakroom surfaces—but simple actions can greatly reduce the risk.
Ways to help prevent getting sick:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before eating, after using the restroom, and after coughing or sneezing.
- Use hand sanitizer when soap and water aren’t available.
- Get your annual Flu Shot.
- Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow—not your hands.
- Clean and disinfect shared tools, equipment, keyboards, and work surfaces regularly.
- Get plenty of rest, stay hydrated, and eat nutritious foods to support your immune system.
- Dress appropriately for the weather to help your body stay strong during colder months.
- Take steps for cleaner air: you can improve air quality by bringing in fresh outside air, purifying indoor air or gathering outdoors.
- Avoid close contact with those that are sick.
- If you’re feeling sick, let your supervisor know and take care of yourself—staying home when ill helps protect your coworkers.
A healthy workplace depends on all of us. Taking a few extra steps each day helps keep our teams safe, productive, and feeling their best all flu season long.
